THE ROLE OF A SCHOOL COUNSELOR

The School Counselor at Medford High School will assist you in making appropriate educational and career plans, as well as help you strategize about problems that may interfere with your learning.

·   To plan and select high school courses that fulfill requirements for graduation

·   To understand your test scores and how they relate to your school work

·   To discover and select programs to match your special talents and abilities

·   To help you reach your educational goals

·   To aid in the transition to post-secondary education

·   To help find solutions to problems you are having with teachers, peers or coursework

·    To meet, individually or in small groups, to deal with personal concerns, relationships or normal developmental issues

·    To identify problems or areas of concern so that appropriate action can be taken

·    To assist in devising solutions to problems you are having with friends, at school, at home, or on the job

·    To understand your strengths, abilities and aptitudes to help in determining a possible career path or area of interest

·    To gain an understanding of post-secondary options available (i.e., technical or vocational schools, 2- or 4-year colleges, military branches, etc.)

·    To learn about financial aid and scholarships

We have one school facility, which opened in 2003 and houses both Medford Elementary and Medford High School.
