Ms. Sophia Newton
Hello and thank you for visiting my page!My name is Sophia Newton, and I am excited to join the Medford Schools English Department. I grew up in Peoria, Illinois, about two hours south of Chicago. I attended Illinois Central College where I obtained my A.A. in social work in 2019 and Bradley University where I obtained my B.A. in English (literary studies) in 2021. My literary interests are nineteenth century British and American fiction and poetry. I have previous experience teaching high school English Language Arts and English Language Learners (ELL). I am also a published and award-winning poet. Outside of school, I teach classical ballet and pointe at Unlimited Possibilities Dance Studio in Owatonna and Albert Lea. I enjoy playing with my cats, Miles and Florence, and researching the history of my 1897 home.
