Hi Everyone! My name is Sara Markham, and I can't wait to help your child love reading! I am the new Reading Specialist and MTSS Coordinator this year. I am originally from Medford, and love that I can come back and teach in the community I was raised in. Medford is such a wonderful community to be apart of. I attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where I received a degree in Elementary Education and a Special Education Certificate in 2011. I started my career teaching in Kasson-Mantorville for 2 years, then I moved to Medford. I have been a Tiger since 2013. I attended and graduated from St. Mary's University with my Masters in Curriculum Instruction in December 2019, so I feel I am ready to jump into any area of teaching. I have taught kindergarten through third grade. Bouncing around in different grade levels keeps my lessons fresh and exciting. Plus I have developed a deeper understanding of child development within the education system. I am so excited to be working with all students from kindergarten through sixth grade this year. I love getting to know each student and what makes them tick. I like to learn their personalities and how they learn best. The most important thing I establish is a connection with each child, they need to know I care before they feel comfortable enough reading! My husband, Kelly, and I live in Medford. We have 3 children; Bennett, Hudson, and Lily. I am sure you will see us out and about in town throughout the year. We own a land shark -- his name is Quinn, he is a white lab that will eat anything in front of him. He also likes roll on anything he can find. He is our furry best friend and we love him so! Chasing chickens is now a daily occurrence at our house, we have 5 hens. We spent the summer swimming, gardening, swimming, biking, swimming, a little bit of traveling, and more swimming. I think my kids all grew gills this summer. When I am not in school I love to read, scrapbook, go to the cabin, garden, and spend time with family and friends. |
